The word 'Press' is a word used very often by the public.It refers to the overall newspaper industry. It is associated to the printing press used at first in newspaper history. A very well known example is'The Times'. The purpose of newspapers are so consumers are well informed as well as entertained. It may seem like newspapers have low popularity nowadays, but still consumers are buying it. Although, yes, it has declined in sales since the 1950s, might be because of T.V news programmes and as to nowadays the development of digital news through social medias and websites.
Another term in use is 'free press', it defines professions like journalists and newspaper editors, this is because in MEDCs they have the right to report and write freely about anyone or anything, they can talk negatively about politicians or celebrities. However in most of LEDCs they have no free press freedom, if any journalist choose to disobey this rules, they are fined if not imprisoned.
